(She/Her)
Tyra considers herself to be an artist with a profound appreciation for the transformative power of dance, especially within underserved communities. Tyra is passionate about storytelling, and passing down culture through music and movement, as it transcends generations. With over 12 years of dance experience in various dance forms, Tyra has been afforded opportunities to perform and collab with various artists across the states. She currently continues her work with the REACH Collective.
Tyra was introduced to dance at the age of 12 by her first ballet teacher, Mrs Joan Millen Mesh, in a free after-school Sports and arts program in Queens, New York. Tyra fell in love with her new broadened perspective of what art could feel like. 12 years later Tyra has honed her skills and developed a fierce personal style through irreplaceable experiences with teachers all over the city, and at Oral Roberts University, who have left an indelible mark on her artistry.
Tyra strives to inspire others and bridge opportunity gaps in communities of color by leveraging her own passion for movement, learning, and community engagement. Tyra is grateful for the opportunity to communicate and express herself through art and hopes that we would all have the equal opportunity to see the magic in our footsteps.
